How it works
1 Creating an accountSearching is free. Booking needs a verified identity.
-
Your name, your email, a password
The password is at least ten characters.
-
Two six-digit codes
One by email, one by SMS to your number. Each valid for ten minutes.
-
Your document and a photo of you
National ID, CNI receipt, passport, driving licence or consular card. The front, the back if the document has one, and a selfie. The photo of the document is destroyed as soon as the check is done.
-
Our team checks it
One to two working days. You are told either way.
2 Booking a providerFrom the request to the review
-
You describe what you need
The service, the date, the place, what needs doing. The conversation then opens in the app — that is where everything is settled: the details, the photos, the price.
-
You sort out the details
This is the moment for the awkward questions: the price, the materials, who brings what, how long. Better asked now than on the day.
-
They send you an official offer
Price, date, estimated duration, terms. You accept, or you keep talking. Until you have accepted, nothing is agreed.
-
You pay, and we keep the amount
By mobile money, in the app. The money does not go to the provider yet: it stays with Sarréh. They know it is there — that is why they come.
-
The work happens
They mark the job as finished, you confirm on your side — and it is that confirmation which releases the payment. If you say nothing, you are reminded the same evening: the amount is released within twenty-four hours unless you report a problem.
-
You leave a review
Each of you rates the other, and only sees theirs after writing their own. Nobody adjusts their rating based on what they received.
3 Becoming a providerAbout twenty minutes, papers in hand
-
Create your account
An email address and a password. You can already look at what others are offering.
-
Verify your identity
A photo of your document and a selfie — national ID, CNI receipt, passport, driving licence or consular card. The receipt counts: the card itself takes months to arrive, and that wait must not hold you back. Someone on our team compares them, then the photo of the document is destroyed. The customer passes the same check: without a verified identity, they cannot book.
-
Describe your trade
Your services, your experience, your city and the neighbourhoods you are willing to travel to. The documents we ask for depend on the trade: a driver shows their licence, a childminder gives two references we call, an electrician proves their competence — a diploma, recommendations, or a technical interview.
-
Wait for approval
Our team reviews your file and may call you. You hear back either way, usually within one to two working days.
-
Publish and get your first requests
Your listing is checked before it goes live. After that, customers write to you and you reply with an official offer.
-
You get paid without chasing the money
The customer pays before the job, and Sarréh keeps the amount. You set off knowing it is there. Once the work is confirmed it joins your balance, and you request the payout whenever you like.
4 Reporting a problemFrom the conversation itself
-
Report from the conversation
The Report button is in the conversation and on the provider's profile. Going through it attaches the history and the evidence automatically — which is what makes a report get dealt with quickly.
-
Attach evidence if you have any
A photo, a screenshot. It is not required: a report without evidence is read like any other.
-
Our team looks into it
They read the conversation, may call you, and decide: warning, suspension, or no further action.
-
You are kept informed
We write to tell you that your report has been handled and that what was needed was done.
We can suspend an account. On the money, it depends when: while the amount is still with us, a report stops it going out and a refund is possible. Once it has been paid to the provider we cannot take it back — which is why you should confirm only when the work is genuinely done. The written, accepted offer remains your best evidence.
5 Deleting your accountWithout going through us, in under a minute
-
Open your profile
Profile tab, bottom right.
-
Scroll to « Delete my account »
The link is at the bottom of the page, under the sign-out button.
-
Confirm with your password
We ask for it to be sure it is really you — and not somebody who found your phone unlocked.
You have thirty days to change your mind. During that window your account is disabled and your listings taken down, but nothing is erased yet: signing back in restores everything.
What is erased
After thirty days, permanently: your email address and phone number, your date of birth and your city, all your documents and photos, any former names, your notifications and the reasons for any sanction. If nobody ever dealt with you, the account is deleted entirely, without a trace.
What remains, and why
Past bookings and conversations remain, under an anonymous identifier: your name becomes « Deleted user ». Those records belong to the other person too — a provider is entitled to keep the record of a job done. Erasing them would delete part of somebody else's history.
If you can no longer access your account
Write to us from the account's email address at contact@sarreh.com, subject « Account deletion ». We check that it really is you, then we proceed within thirty days. The detail is in our privacy policy.
Frequently asked
What people ask us most
Do I need an account to search for a provider?
No. You can browse every trade, every city and see who is available without creating anything. An account is only asked for when you make a request — because a conversation is needed in order to reply to you.
What does it cost?
For customers, using Sarréh is free: you only pay for the service. For providers, everything is free during the launch period — we take no commission; only the mobile money operator's fees are deducted from the payout. The day we start charging for something, we will say so clearly and in advance.
How does payment work?
By mobile money, in the app, once the offer is accepted. Sarréh holds the amount and only pays the provider after the job, when you confirm the work is done. Neither of you has to trust first.
What if I do not confirm?
On the evening of the service you get a reminder: the amount will be released within twenty-four hours unless you report a problem. It exists to prevent two things — a customer forgetting and blocking payment for work well done, and a provider chasing you for days.
What if I cancel?
It depends how far ahead, and it is written in the offer before you accept. Cancel well in advance and you are refunded; the closer the date, the larger the share kept by the provider, who set aside the time and turned other work down. For an event with a deposit, the rule is spelled out at the moment of payment.
When do I see the provider's phone number?
Two days before the service, once it is paid — and it closes again two days after. They see yours on the same terms. For a salon, an institute or a company, that is also when the exact address appears.
This is not distrust: as long as everything goes through the conversation, there is a written trail of what was agreed. That trail is what protects you both the day someone disputes it.
Does the conversation close after the service?
No. It stays open for thirty days after the last offer, and the provider can send you a new one without starting over — handy for a weekly clean or a lesson every Tuesday. After thirty quiet days it is archived: you can still read it, but not write in it.
Are providers trained?
Before their first listing, every provider goes through a short walkthrough: what is expected of them, how they get paid, why they must get your confirmation before leaving the place of the service, and the traps specific to their trade. Their commitment is recorded, with the date.
What happens to the photo of my ID?
It is examined by our team, then destroyed as soon as the check is done. Only the selfie is kept, for one year, so that a contested decision can be revisited. After that it disappears too.
Do I need a diploma to become a provider?
No, in almost every trade. A driver must show their licence; childminding, elderly care, house guarding and home cooking each need two reachable references that we call. In the building trades no diploma is required — photos of your work are often worth more than a certificate. Only electrical work and air conditioning ask for proof of competence, one of several: a diploma, two recommendations from recent jobs, or a technical interview.
Does Sarréh work outside Douala and Yaoundé?
Not yet. We open where we can verify people properly, and that starts with those two cities. Other countries in West and Central Africa will follow.
Ready to try?
Searching is free. An account is only asked for when you make a request.
